SchoolsCompany South and West Devon Academy is committed to the safeguarding and protection of the young people that we work with. It is the responsibility of our Safeguarding Team to ensure that all safeguarding issues are effectively responded to, recorded and referred to the appropriate agency. In addition we provide regular safeguarding training for all staff working within the academy.

If we have any concerns about the welfare or safety of a young person we will follow recognised procedures to protect the young person and will report our concerns to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) or to Social Care. Likewise, if a young person, parent or carer has any safeguarding concerns they can speak to either one of our designated safeguarding officers or any other member of staff.

There are a key group of staff who have had received advanced training (Level 3) in safeguarding and they are the academy’s designated safeguarding officers.

South and West Devon Academy work with parents and carers to enable them to be alert to the risks that young people may face. Useful information for parents and carers, produced by the Lucy Faithful Foundation, concerning the danger of Child Sexual Exploitation can be downloaded here.
